A watch enthusiast Watchmaker

My name is Matt Leiderman and I’m a lot of things… a dad of 2 teenagers, a husband, a public middle school science teacher, a fly fisherman/fly rod builder, and a watchmaker.

I’ve been a watch enthusiast and collector for well over a decade. My vintage collecting journey started (but certainly didn't end...) in 2012 with a 1970 Straight Text Speedmaster that has earned a permanent place in my collection. Having bought and sold many vintage and modern watches over the years there was always one area I was nervous about... service. We've all heard horror stories of damaged dials, polished cases, originality being ruined, and poor communication.

This fear was one of the driving factors to becoming a watchmaker. I wanted control of the process. I wanted to offer watch services to other collectors and enthusiasts who have similar hesitations or were having difficulty finding someone they could trust. I know how special these timepieces are to us and how hard it can be finding a watch with that *just-right* patina or case sharpness. I bring that appreciation of the idiosyncrasies we love in vintage watches to my watch services… striving to find a balance between protecting originality and ensuring future functionality.

Another reason? The tools. I'm a tool junkie and watchmakers have the best tools. But that's a whole different obsession...

I'm proud to say that I have helped many clients repair their cherished watches over the years... be it a grandparent's vintage Hamilton, a rare mid-century Omega, or a first foray into vintage Rolex. The variety of work that comes across my bench keeps the job very interesting and I'm honored to have my client's confidence in maintaining these special watches for years to come.

To those that have trusted me with your watches so far, or referred me to others... thank you. I look forward to working with new clients and making many new watch friends in the future.
